Tom Chiles

Project Developer

Tom started his energy career in 2010 as a Public Utility Specialist for the United States General Services Administration, as a technical contracting specialist of bulk electricity purchases and energy management programs for the federal government’s nationwide building portfolio. In 2014 Tom was tapped to join the team implementing President Obama’s Executive Order 13514, requiring federal agencies to incorporate renewable energy into their electricity consumption. This resulted in signing over 200MW of wind and solar energy from new generation sources. Wanting to join the world of solar development, Tom next went to work in the field as a construction foreman, to learn the solar business literally from the ground up. He spent the next several years traveling around the country supervising the construction of solar systems up to 126MW. After cutting his teeth in the field, Azimuth Renewables was the ideal home to apply his rich and varied experience to development, in the hopes of having maximum impact on furthering the country’s energy transition towards renewables.
